Good morning everyone! We’re already excited for today to be over, but on the bright side only 10 more days until Thanksgiving.
0:05- “Oh, no no no I’m a rocket man” - Elton John
Four SpaceX astronauts entered the atmosphere on Sunday night, beginning what they hope will be the first of a series of flights designed to keep the ISS fully staffed and maintained. The four spacemen will dock the “Crew Dragon” capsule to the ISS around 11pm ET, meaning they’ll have spent 27 hours in orbit. We just hope they found a nice space hotel to stop at.
0:23- Master of his craft
Yesterday Dustin Justin joined the elite green jacket club and became the winner of the historic 2020 masters. Not only did he win though, he won in record fashion- hitting -20 as he tapped the ball in on hole 18. That may not be the most historic moment of the weekend though- on the other side of greatness, Tiger Woods recorded the worst hole of his career, a 10 stroke hole on a par 3 where he hit the ball in the water 3 times. Oof.
0:46- Uhh, can we leave those closed until 2021 at least?
Archeologists discovered more than 100 sarcophagi in Saqqara, Egypt on Saturday morning. Those coffins were found on the same ancient burial grounds where additional bodies were unearthed in early September, but this represented the largest find of the year.
0:56- Trump admits Biden won, kind of-
Trump appeared to concede on Sunday morning, stating that Biden “won because the election was rigged”, before later tweeting that he wasn’t conceding, and that he “WON THE ELECTION”
1:04- Covid is placing unprecedented stress on healthcare professionals
The pressures of Covid have placed healthcare providers under large amounts of stress since March, and since then, 8% have closed their doors (~16k practices), with another 4% planning to shut down in the next year. Other nurses and doctors have also quit due to worries about their health or pre-existing medical conditions putting them at advanced risk.
1:19- Big money, no whammy
After last week where the S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average, and Russel 2000 all closed at all time weekly highs, investors are unsure what to expect in the upcoming week. We’re currently awaiting Vaccine trial results from Moderna, and after a big rally on the news of the Pfizer vaccine, another set of good news could set traders up for success.
