Twitter X Snap, and crazy Disney fans
Howdy everyone! 🤠 Give yourself a pat on the back — it’s Friday, you made it!
0:04- Boy, if you thought Fleets were useless...
Twitter officially partnered with Snap yesterday in a move that will integrate tweets into Snap’s interface. Users will be able to share tweets directly from their timeline to either their snap story or directly to a friend. This feature will be released “soon” for iOS with Android integration coming later.
0:18- We could’ve just copied and pasted our story on DoorDash...
Airbnb ($ABNB) had their IPO yesterday, and in a similar fashion to DoorDash, the stock blew up. The price more than doubled from its initial price of $68 to a staggering $146 upon open. This means that their valuation was over $101 billion — more than Marriott, Hyatt, and Hilton combined.
0:31- The bong marks the spot
Weedmaps, the app/website which aggregates all marijuana dispensaries, and allows users to locate and review them (in legal states, of course), is officially going public through a deal with SPAC (special purpose acquisition company) Silver Spike Acquisition for a valuation of over $575m. With the HOR passing a bill decriminalizing weed at a federal level, this could get crazy.
0:47- Who would’ve thought that Disney has a rabid following?
During yesterday’s Disney ($DIS) investor day, CEO Bob Chapek announced that Disney+ had added more than 13 million subscribers since October for a total of 86.8 million world wide Disney fans. For a $6.99 monthly price tag, that’s . . . a lot of revenue, although Disney reported that it had lost money for the second quarter in a row largely due to the closure of their parks.
1:05- The home straight for the vaccine
Yesterday night, the FDA advisory panel recommended that the Pfizer vaccine be granted authorization for broad distribution in a 17-4 vote. This decision came after a day long hearing on the safety and effectiveness of the shots. If green lit in the next few days as is expected, it would be the fastest vaccine ever developed in the west.
1:21- How many people were doing what??
The video game Cyberpunk 2077 came out yesterday, and it’s already broken records. Early yesterday, more than 1.05 million people were streaming the game on Twitch, breaking the record by more than 530k. Sheesh.
Have a great rest of your day, and we’ll see you tomorrow bright and early!
