Good morning everyone, and welcome to the weekend! You made it!
0:05- Two sides of the spectrum can rejoice
If you’re an Apple fan who’s either clumsy or adventurous (or maybe both!), you’ll love that the company is reportedly working on an “Expedition Explorer” edition of the Apple Watch which would feature a more rugged exterior geared towards harsher conditions. Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet, analysts say confidently that it would simply serve as an alternate edition like the SE or Nike variants as opposed to completely replacing the main line. The reports thus far also indicate a late 2021 or early 2022 launch.
0:28- The ship is still stuck
In case you’re wondering if that header is still accurate when you read this, check out IsTheShipStillStuck.com. As of 6:30pm on March 26th, not only was the Ever Given still stuck in the Suez canal, but it had also cost the world economy over $34Bn (at a current rate of $400M an hour). A large portion of that additional cost comes from ships having to re-route all the way around the Cape of Good Hope at the bottom of Africa, a journey that is both 3,547 nautical miles and nine days longer.
0:53- Dominion protects their dominion
Yesterday, Dominion Voting Systems sued Fox News for $1.6Bn dollars, alleging that the company produced “defamatory on-air comments” about their voting systems. This lawsuit, which was filed in a Delaware state court, describes the situation as “Fox took a small flame and turned it into a forest fire.” Naturally Fox disputed these claims, calling the lawsuit baseless, and indicating that it was proud of its 2020 election segments.
1:11- “There’s funding in my bio”
Linktree, which is one of the top 20 most trafficked sites in the world, just raised $45M in series B funding at an undisclosed valuation. The service, which allows users to create a home page with a collection of links, is oftentimes used on social media profiles as a way to consolidate all of a user’s favorite sites. So far the company boasts 12M users, 4M of which signed up in the last three months.
Have a great rest of your day, and we’ll see you tomorrow bright and early!
