Biden's press conference, and new vaccine data

0:05- Biden takes to the mic
In his first press conference as President, Joe Biden wasted no time in announcing that he planned on running for reelection in 2024. Following that, he covered a wide array of topics during his hour long speech including distaste for current filibusters (he supports a return to the “talking” filibuster), troop involvement in Afghanistan (the May target for withdrawal is unlikely to happen), Covid vaccines (the original goal of 100M before day 100 has now been doubled) and the situation at the southern border (he said that all people crossing the border illegally should be sent back.)
0:31- AstraZeneca updates data on vaccine
Yesterday AstraZeneca released new data for its Covid vaccine that suggests the shot is 76% effective against preventing Covid symptoms. This new information is based off of a new study done on 190 cases of symptomatic Covid in its clinical trial. Despite its rocky rollout with supply issues, and claims that it caused blood clotting (it doesn't), experts say that the vaccine is safe, and it appears to be on track to be approved in the US.
0:52- Mobile gaming brings in billions
According to app analyst firm Sensor Tower, PUBG Mobile, the mobile version of the wildly popular battle royale game, has grossed more than $5.1Bn in sales since it first launched. This report indicates that the games ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) is $5, as it has a total of 1Bn downloads worldwide across Android and iOS. China reportedly accounts for 55.4% of the revenue alone, with the US in a distant second at 12.7%.
1:13- Making bold claims in public is risky
Amazon’s PR team responded on Twitter to a Wisconsin congressman on Wednesday who was critiquing the company’s workplace for its culture which had employees peeing in bottles to make quotas. Naturally the company disputed these claims, but within minutes there were employees responding with pictures of bottles they had peed in while trying to maintain the standards the company set out for them.
