During his campaign, President Biden constantly promised to oversee the increase of renewable energy produced in the US, and he’s wasted no time getting started. Recently he signed an executive order directing the Interior Secretary to at least double the offshore wind production by 2030. The first step in that process is reducing the red tape required to install an offshore farm—currently there are only two active in the US but ten more have been waiting for approval at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management for up to four years.
0:30- So uh, what is Dogecoin?
Over the past two weeks, Elon Musk has been tweeting constantly about Dogecoin, a cryptocurrency started in 2013 as a joke around the “Doge” meme. For most of its life it has traded as an inside joke amongst its owners (although in 2014 holders of the coin united to both fund the Jamacian Olympic bobsled team as well as a Nascar car at Talladega). However with the recent rise in interest following the publicity bump from Musk and other celebs, the coin has been experiencing increased volatility and inflated prices, growing up to 5x this month alone.
0:54- So when will life return to normal?
Unfortunately the answer is that no one knows. Even with the vaccine, recent studies have found wildly conflicting results (surprise, surprise). For example, Imperial College in England found that even if the country was vaccinating 3M people a week, lowering restrictions starting on February 22nd (as suggested by PM Boris Johnson) could still lead to an extra 130k deaths, but the University of Warwick said that the same process would only result in a “minimal further disease burden.”
1:15- And it isn’t even April 20th yet
On Friday, Virginia’s general assembly voted to legalize marijuana in the state where it was decriminalized just last year. The law will allow simple possession (of up to one ounce) as early as this summer, and dispensaries are planned to be allowed starting in 2024.

After the arrest of a man for fraud earlier this year, German prosecutors seized a bitcoin wallet with more than $60M on it. The problem? They can’t crack it, and he won’t give them the password.
