The Trump administration officially exited the Open Skies Treaty on Sunday, an agreement that was originally developed after the cold war. In addition, the government will also be scrapping the specially optioned OC-135B planes that have the specs to carry out the treaty. This would make it incredibly difficult for President-elect Biden to re-enter the treaty— something he says he supports.

On Saturday, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals’ Covid antibody cocktail (The one used on President Trump) was approved, marking the second advancement in Covid treatments this month. This approval came after an emergency study with 800 people, and will be distributed to more than 200k people by the end of the first week of January.

Trials around the United States have hit another stopping point as jury duty turnout has been hitting all time lows. In addition to the cancelled trials, many around the nation have also been declared mistrials as jurors, lawyers, or others close to the case have tested positive. With individuals worried about their safety, questions have been raised about what to do about the suspended trials around the nation.
0:53- Protestors burn Congress in Guatemala after cuts in spending on health and education
Late Saturday night protestors set the Congress building ablaze in Guatemala after a controversial decision by the government to cut funding for various initiatives, including for Covid patients while they simultaneously approved over $65k to pay for meals for themselves. The government has declared it a “terrorist” act, and over 12 people were injured when police got involved.
1:08- The virtual G20 ended like most Zoom meetings— without much progress
After ending early Sunday morning, the G20 conference released a statement outlining the results of the conference and highlighting the important mandates from W.H.O. (an organization Trump withdrew from in July) regarding the ongoing Covid pandemic. This comes after Trump was not listed on the attendant list for the side event entitled, “Pandemic preparedness and response”.
